Family Camping at Dockweiler Beach RV Park
Accommodations that are just steps to the beach for less than a hundred dollars a night? Get that at Dockweiler Beach RV Park, the ONLY recreational vehicle campground on the beach throughout all of L.A. County. It is located in Playa del Rey at Dockweiler State Beach, which is also one of the few beaches in the county where bonfires are still permitted.
When we aren’t staying with family on our visits to L.A., we love camping out here with our Class C Motorhome. If you are an RV/roadschool family wanting to spend some time in the L.A. area, don’t look any further!
Your kids will not only love the easy beach access, but also the the 22-mile bike trail that easily connects you to other beaches like Redondo, Venice, and Santa Monica. The campground is also a great base camp for hitting up tourist attractions in the area like Disneyland, Universal Studios, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the California Science Center because of its access to the freeway system. It is very close to LAX, which may be too noisy for some people but my kids loved looking up at the jets overhead.
The campground has a dog run, pump-out station, hot showers, and a laundromat, while each individual campsite includes full hook-ups, picnic table, and barbecue. You can play volleyball on the beach or go fishing off the shore. Security is pretty tight, which was comforting to our family. You have to pass a guard house just to enter the general vicinity and then another gate for the campground.
Try to snag a spot in the row closest to the beach! In order to do that, you want to make sure you are one of the first to book when the booking window opens up for your arrival date. You can book no sooner than 90 days before your arrival (and no later than 24 hours before your arrival). It is a VERY popular campground, especially in the summer, so book as early as possible!
