Winter Magic at Leavenworth Reindeer Farm

Winter Magic at Leavenworth Reindeer Farm

Looking for something special to do with your children while visiting Leavenworth in the winter? Take your family to hang out with “Santa’s” hard-working reindeer at the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm!

(They are also open throughout the year; a spring visit means getting to see baby reindeer!)

We went to the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm in December and upon our arrival, had the opportunity to take a photo with Santa.

Patrick’s trying to be silly and Baby Sis looks like Cousin It, LOL.

We then headed to the fire pit area where a couple draft horses, greeted us. Baby Sis loves horses, so this was a special treat for her!

Before our tour, there was a short presentation about reindeer, where the kids got to touch and pass around shed antlers. Of course, as a homeschool mom, I was totally digging this part up.

When it was time to enter the reindeer pen, we all were given Reindeer Food. The kids were intimidated at first, but soon warmed up to the super friendly reindeer, who will eat gently right out of your hand!

Aside from the reindeer, kids will enjoy other animals roaming around and the swing set. The farm also served free hot cocoa and cookies.

This is a family friendly tour that you won’t want to miss! For more information, visit Leavenworth Reindeer Farm’s website.

Things to Know Before Visiting The Leavenworth Reindeer Farm

  1. The biggest tip is to reserve your tour ahead of time (2-3 months in advance), especially during the holiday season!
  2. Arrive about 10 minutes early.
  3. Plan to spend about an hour at the farm.
  4. Avoid contact with sheep and goats at least one week before your visit (as sheep and goats carry a spore dangerous to reindeer).
